It's not Patou but Maitre Ficarre on solo guitar in this clip.

Wow Ficarre sounds more like Patou now because he changed his syle.

Ficarre has not changed his style,he can play like any of the soloists can play it's only that he prefers to stick to his own style of play except at concerts and that is why JB trusts him a lot,Ficarre can play any Wenge song without a problem coz he was Alain Makaba's number two,the rest like Mboka Liya etc found him playing alongside Makaba, remember Makaba used to alternate between Bass,Keyboards and solo guitar(sometimes rhythm)so Ficarre was at the helm of the solo guitar alot.

That's true, Alain Makaba is multi-talented but some feel disappointed because of his Ficarre's weak solo in the Kipe Ya Yo Generique. But, Ficarre is not an outdated soloist. Patou shoulded played on the Kipe Ya Yo because it would've been better.

My analysis of Kipe Ya Yo makes me conclude that it's the actual recording that made the solo guitar so faint moreover,JB Mpiana recorded Kipe Ya Yo in Kinshasa's Ndiaye's studio then had bits of it redone at a London Studio when he was on tour of Europe and Canada late 2006.It is Patou who created the guitar licks for Kipe Ya Yo but he couldn't travel on the tour and final finishing up of recording in London so Ficarre was the one that played in the Generique when they finally edited it in London.

Oh, Patou is an excellent soloist because he's young but I'm not saying Ficarre is boring. Patou is out more and made some great licks on QTP.

You're right,Patou has exceptional guitar playing techniques,i don't know in what band he played before PPU and BCBG but he sure knows his job better than some of the big guitarists from major bands who have been in the limelight for many years.I have seen Patou playing rhythm in BCBG and i have just concluded that he has mastered the guitar chords and knows what fret will produce what sound, his speed is also hard to believe,am glad Ficarre was left behind on the current May 08 tour of Europe/Americas by JB,at least now i know i will have some dvd's with Patou playing throughout,i also hope he is gonna acquire a new guitar coz he is the only guitarist i know who doesn't own a distictive guitar, most of them do including Ficarre who has used that small guitar for many years, others like Flam Kapaya also use the BC Rich guitar and that's why you notice that the sound from their guitar is consistent.
