Mbuta Matima on Solo and the sebene is awesome, Don't know who's on rhythm guitar and on Bass: Oncle Bapius (one of the best Zaiko Bass Players...The dance is Mayebo which was popular in the Late 80's/Early 90's and created by Zaiko. Then Animator 3615 Code Niawu (Popular Atalaku at the time) used those animations to become a Atalaku Session God.

Today I'm going to post some classic Makossa tunes. Because to remind how good Makossa was in the 80's which was called Pop Makossa. Funky Makossa was created by Manu Dibango in the 70's who is one of the Cameroonian stars to become successful out of the U.S. There was also Makozouk which was Makossa mixed with Zouk and Makossa fused with Congolese Soukous.

Lokassa Ya M'Bongo is a excellent rhythm guitarist and he is almost 60. He has a title of 7 albums? He was a member of Soukous Stars and founder, also a member of Tabu Ley's Afrisa International, and Sam Mangwana's African All Stars. He was one of highest session rhythm guitarist. He played on more than 100 sessions.

The first video is Marie Jose which was released in 1986; originally Ballou Canta sanged but he is lip singing it. You can see Yondo Sister singing and dancing in the background. She did some background singing in the 80's, she also appeared in Kanda Bongo Man's Malinga-JT album.

Koffi Olomide Vs. Werrason

As u know, there has been a rivalry between Koffi and Werrason. We don't know who will release their album's first. Recently, Flam Kapaya left Maison Mere and joined Quartier Latin International - Les Meneiurs. Flam has working on Album du Patron with Koffi to fill in the Poor Generique. So in the meantime, Werrason called Beniko Popolipo (ex.Zaiko and ex.Quartier Latin member) to fill in Flam's licks he made. In my opinion, I don't know if Beniko can do the hardcore licks. But in Zaiko, he made some extreme licks there and also in QL . So, he probably can do it.

I love this remake of the famous Kanda Bongo Man "Sai" in Champeta version. It has a creative sebene and the funky bass lines are excellent. However, Champeta comes from Colombia and such African musicians such as Bopol Mansiamina has been working with Champeta artists but I don't know if they are even released.

The Grand Maitre of Congolese Music

Franco is one the Grand Maitre on the Guitar and this person has the voice, is a great bandleader and has excellent songs. His most famous song is "Mario" in 1985. His Group was O.K. Jazz created in 1956, which he renamed to Tout Puissant OK Jazz in 1970. Nobody couldn't leave Franco because he was like a hard rock, which was tough to crack. Musicians mostly from Afrisa went to TPOK Jazz because it was a better band. Over 50 Musicians were in Franco's Band. He had great singers, great guitarists and a great horns section in his rumbas. Sadly, he died in 1989 of Aids. However, he has recorded over 50 LPs and that makes truly a great.

Tabu Ley Rochereau

He is the godfather of Congolese Music and influences most artists today. He has composed more than 100 albums throughout Africa, Europe, USA and elsewhere. In his earlier days, he joined Africa Jazz as a full time musician after graduating from high school. He sanged Grand Kale’s composition - "Independence Cha Cha when Congo was being an independent nation and that made him famous. He and Dr.Nico were part of African Jazz. However, in 1963, they created the band African Fiesta National and they have recorded the famed classic hit - Africa Mokili Mobimba that was sold to a high number of 1 million copies. In 1970, he renamed his band to Afrisa International and made success with this band recording hits such as Sorozo, Kaful Mayay, Ponce Pilate, Ana Mokoy, and Tete Nakozenga - in praise of his wife . Other famous musicians who were part of the band in the 70's were Sam Mangwana, Lokassa Ya M'Bongo, Dizzy Mandjeku, Michelino, Kiasse Diambu, Seskain Molenga, Dr.Nico, and more. Luckily, there have been a rivalry to TPOK Jazz for all these years until Franco died. Later, as we move into the 80's, he introduces a young female name M'Bilia Bel who is an excellent singer and dancer, and they have been making duets songs, which were also successful. Later in 1986, Tabu Ley introduced another female singer - Faya Tess and there have been jealousy between the two. In Late 1987, Mbilia Bel left for a solo career and Tabu Ley's career seemed to go down as well in the Late 80's to Mid 90's.

What I know of the Intro of Soukous and other styles

However, from 1981 - 1996, was the whole generation of Soukous. However, later in late 1996 year, Koffi Olomide who is one of the top stars in Congo made a dance able rhythm called Ndombolo, which is also a dance, but I do not know who really created it between either Wenge BCBG, Quartier Latin, or Zaiko Langa Langa. However, Bill Clinton (atalaku) of Wenge Maison Mere never shouted out Ndombolo because that was BCBG's call to shout but Bill came with some creative dances as his own. However, the Ndombolo era was sweet and later, unknown bands started coming in this era. As we know, all good things must to come to an end and that's what happened to Ndombolo in 2000/2001. Later, the Wenge BCBG boys created a far more hardcore sebene called Nguasuma which is more hardcore with the guitar. Currently, Nguasuma is still happening. Nevertheless, there have been other styles, other than Soukous, Ndombolo, and Nguasuma. Tcha Tcho, which was created by Koffi Olomide, is still being produced. Koffi Olomide played the Zaiko rhythm until in 1986/7, he created a slow and sensitive sound called Tcha Tcho, which is also a romantic sound soothing to the ears unlike Soukous. Other people such Karma Pa, Felix Wazekwa, and more had success with TchaTcho. In addition, there's rumba which is the oldest genre in Congolese music. Rumba came when Congolese musicians fused Congolese and other African traditional rhythms with the Afro-Cuban sound that made success. Perhaps, Wendo Kolosoy was the first Rumba star that made the style international known, other bands such as African Jazz led by Grand Kalle(Joseph Kabasele Tshamala), OK Jazz led by Franco Luambo Makiadi who renamed it to Tout Pouissant O.K Jazz in the 70's. Later, Dr.Nico Kasanda and Tabu Ley created their own group called African Fiesta. But, young college students created Zaiko Langa Langa in 1969 which created the Congolese Rumba - Sebene style and soon everyone followed to play this style.

This is an excellent Rumba LP made by OK Jazz Associate Ntesa Dalienst but he sadly died in 1996. But the LP features well know musicians such as Carlyto Lassa, Dizzy Mandjeku and other musicians.
